Ildar Khannanov is an
assistant professor of music theory at the Oklahoma City University.
He is finishing his second doctorate in music theory at the University
of California, Santa Barbara, having received his previous degrees
in music theory, piano, and composition at Russian schools, including
the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and its post-graduate
school, Aspiranta. A participant in numerous international and national
music conferences and an active performer, Dr. Khannanov wishes
to foster mutual understanding between music scholars in the US
and Russia. Having published scholarly writings in English, Russian,
and Bashkyrian, and fluent also in French, Dr. Khannanov's wide-ranging
interests comprise music theory and analysis, pedagogy of music
theory and aural skills, folklore and ethnomusicology of the peoples
of Russia, and continental philosophy.
