Dr. J. Kent Williams
holds B.M.E, M.M, and Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University-Bloomington.
He has published articles and reviews in the Annual Review of
Jazz Studies, New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, Journal
of Music Theory Pedagogy, Indiana Theory Review, In
Theory Only, and the Journal of Computer-Based Instruction.
His textbook "Theories and Analyses of Twentieth-Century of
Music" was published in 1997 by Harcourt Brace and is currently
available from Wadsworth-Thomson-Schirmer. His "Form, Process,
and Texture in Tonal Music", a combination textbook and web
site is under development. Dr. Williams is Editor of the Journal
of Music Theory Pedagogy and chair of the Pedagogy Interest
Group within the Society for Music Theory. At UNCG he serves as
Coordinator of Music Theory and Director of the School of Music
Computer Lab.
